"The Tonight Show" Gets Less Funny
This whole NBC "Late Night" debacle may be partially resolved but with a slightly depressing twist. Conan O'Brien, host of "The Tonight Show", has announced he will not continue to host the talk show if it is moved to midnight to accomodate the "Jay Leno Show." The late night comedian issued a statement citing his main reason leaving was that he "cannot participate in what I honestly believe is its(The Tonight Show's) destruction." O'Brien also said that NBC didn't give him, unlike previous hosts, enough time to build a dedicated fan base.As for rumors of moving to another channel O'Brien said "I currently have no other offer and honestly have no idea what happens next." NBC has yet to say if this plan will come to pass but with the threat of losing O'Brien, hopefully they'll reconsider. It may just be me but i've thought that Leno is just not that funny, sure he had some good skits, but overall O'Brien just seems more enjoyable. Unlike Jay Leno he doesn't need things like "Headlines" or "Jay Walking" to be funny, he just has a funny personality. NBC can be given credit for trying something new, but if this ends with "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" again, i will have no reason to watch it, and they have lost more then they could gain.
